What we do

What Do We Do?

We  are part of the International Association of Lions Clubs, which is the largest voluntary service organisation in the world.Leo

We raise our own funds by organising events locally such as:

  • Easter Prize Raffle
  • Festival Fair
  • Attendance at Fetes, Carnivals etc
  • Michaelmas Fair
  • Father Christmas Collection at Crawley Garden Centre
  • Sponsored Events
  • and …… by voluntary donation

The Festival Fair, Michaelmas fair, sponsored events all enable other organisations and clubs who participate to raise substantial sums for the causes they support. Our members come from all walks of life but share one common aim, and that is to offer help and support to those less fortunate than ourselves.

We use the funds raised for many projects. During the last year our
club has helped:

  • Homeless Crawley families
  • £2,000 raised and donated to First Responders in Crawley
  • Community projects such as Copthorne Church Clock refurbishment
  • Funds to supply MedicAlert bracelets
  • DentAid – to help with transportation of equipment to the 3rd World
  • Eyeglass Recycling – over 4,000 pairs of spectacles sent to Chichester
Lions Club, for grading and forwarding to the 3rd World
  • Transport costs for aid to Belarus Lions
  • Melvin Jones Fellowships – This helps to fund international projects through LCIF
  • Message in a Bottle – 1,200 distributed free to the public
