Lions Help Refugees This Winter

Winter Comes to the Syrian Transit Camps
Winter Comes to Syria Transit Camps

Many tens of thousands of people fleeing civil war and disasters are travelling through Greece, the Balkans and Central Europe lightly clothed and often without basic necessities. Blankets, thick clothing, and medical care are needed urgently. Lions Clubs International has long provided emergency disaster relief. It has now given $300,000 of seed money for a fund to help offset current displacement crises in Syria, Serbia, Lebanon and adjacent areas in Europe. Crawley Lions Club has given £1,600 to this fund. Lions Clubs in the displacement areas will access the money to give materials and support the volunteer member professionals, such as doctors, nurses and teachers, who are providing the help.
